Privacy Notice

The short version

This site does not ask you for personal information, does not set cookies, and does not track you across other websites. There is no account to create, no form to fill in, and no newsletter to join. Visits are counted in aggregate so we know which pages are read; that measurement does not identify you.

Who is responsible

Development Choices (“we”, “us”) operates this site and decides how the limited information described below is handled. You can reach us at contact@development-choices.com.

What we collect

Nothing you type. The site has no contact form, no comments, no sign-up and no search box that reaches us. We have no database of visitors.

Aggregate measurement. We count page views so we can tell which material is worth writing more of. The measurement is designed to work without cookies and without following you between sites. It records things like the page requested, the general region a request came from, the referring site, and the kind of browser and device — as counts, not as a profile attached to you.

Technical request records. As with any website, the systems that serve these pages process the information every web request necessarily contains, including your IP address, in order to deliver the page, keep the site available, and defend it against abuse and attack. These records are short-lived and are used for delivery and security only.

What we do not do

Third parties involved

Delivering a website necessarily involves service providers. For this site those are limited to:

These providers process this information on our instructions in order to run the site. We do not authorise them to use it for their own advertising purposes. We can tell you who they currently are on request — we do not list them here, because publishing the exact composition of a site’s infrastructure mainly helps people attacking it.

Pages here link to other websites. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, subject to their privacy practices, not ours. We have no control over what they collect.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal information relating to you — typically to ask what is held, to obtain a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to certain processing.

Because we hold no account, no contact details and no profile for you, in most cases we simply have nothing to return. If you believe we hold information about you, write to contact@development-choices.com and we will look and tell you honestly what we find. We do not charge for this.

Retention

Aggregate counts are kept only in summary form. Technical request records are retained briefly for delivery and security purposes and then discarded. We do not maintain long-term records about individual visitors.

Security

We keep the site static and its published surface small, which is itself a security measure: there is no login, no user input reaching a database, and no stored personal data to lose. Access to publish is restricted to us.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
